Should terrorism stop us travelling to Europe’s cities?

Yesterday I woke up to the news that there had been yet another cowardly terrorist attack in my nations capital of London. This comes less than two weeks after the heartbreaking bombing at Manchester Arena. These atrocities, have not only left me heartbroken but also fearful about the state of the world.

Following the equally as tragic attacks in Paris, Nice and Berlin late last year, I can’t help but feel as though we’re stepping on eggshells; where and when will these monsters strike again? Thus leading to the question: Should we stop travelling to Europe’s cities?

For me the answer is very simple – No. If we stop visiting iconic cities, such as London and Paris, then the terrorists will win! They want to divide us and undermine the values of our societies. Avoiding such destinations does exactly that!

This is a viewpoint shared by most… The prevailing feeling following the recent attacks in the UK  has been that of carrying on as normal in defiance. A message written on a London tube sign following the Westminster attack captures this attitude perfectly: ‘This is London: Whatever you do to us, we will drink tea, and jolly well carry on’.

In this way, I will carry on as I always have done! I will visit my nations capital and continue in my bid to explore as many of Europe’s cities as possible…. My own little f**k you to those who intend to destroy our way of life!

I urge everyone else to do the same! Continue your trips, be vigilant but enjoy, explore and live 🙂

I couldn’t end this post without mentioning last nights One Love Manchester Concert, where some of the biggest artists in the world  performed together to spread love and positivity, all the while remembering and honouring the young lives lost in the Manchester attack.

Watching the concert, warmed my heart as 50,000 people (as well as the whole country) stopped, listened and remembered. It was very emotional to watch but an incredible show that love will always win! – It made me very proud to be British.

My thoughts and prayers are with anybody affected by any of the recent attacks! Spread love and positivity and eventually we’ll prove that taking innocent lives only brings people and nations closer together!

You said it all quite perfectly. We shall carry on with sipping our teas and indulge in carpe diem along the way xx

it’s crazy, I was writing something similar to this last year after the attacks in Orlando. Heartbreaking that it’s still an issue but 100% agree that if we let fear stop us from traveling, then we’re letting the terrorism win.
